MORE ABOUT THIS CAMERA:  Released in 1999, the Olympus SUPERZOOM 700XB was not the most beautifully designed camera, however we've found that it can take beautiful photos. Olympus also manufactured this model under the names 'SuperZoom 70S' and 'Infinity Accura Zoom XB 700', and according to the instruction booklet they are all the same camera. Some were produced with a date stamp function (known as the QUARTZDATE model), and others without it. This camera offers a number of features including focus lock, self-timer, infinity focus mode, red eye reduction, DX decoding (100-400 ISO), a sliding lens cover, and a tripod socket. The specs are nothing special, such as the f/5.6-9.6 aperture for example (and the shutter speed range is not even made available), but they get the job done. The active autofocus system coupled with an alright lens ensure that there are usually always a bunch of great photos on each roll from this camera, although it can be a bit hit-and-miss from photo to photo, especially when shooting action scenes. The misses often end up being quite charming anyway, but of course that's a matter of taste. If you're looking for a camera with high specs that will maximise your chance of consistently perfect photos then you should consider some of the more premium cameras out there. But for those looking to snap away for a bit of fun and the excitement of slightly unpredictable and often magical outcomes then the SUPERZOOM 700XB is likely going to be ideal.
