MORE ABOUT THIS CAMERA: The Riva AF35c is a fun and easy-to-use point and shoot made by Minolta in Malaysia and released in 1992. Our favourite thing about it is the sliding lens cover (which also acts as the on/off switch), keeping the lens protected whenever its turned off. Another nice thing about this camera is its flash automatically incorporates red-eye, which makes a lot of sense because most flash shots we take we like to have the red-eye switched on, and even if you don't want it on it doesn't do any harm by having it. Beyond that this camera doesn't have a whole lot of talking points. Its very automated, with auto-flash, auto exposure / DX-reading, auto-loading, auto advance, auto rewind and active infrared autofocus. So pretty much nothing to think about. Then one thing you've got in your control is a self-timer (controlled by a button on the top) if you wish to use it. Minolta is a brand that really got the colour balance right on a lot of their film cameras and the Riva AF35c is no exception. Technically, its somewhat limited by its specs, only operating at 100 or 400 ISO (and nothing in between), but colour negative film is pretty forgiving and this camera still produces really sweet photos. Even if you shoot a film the isn't 100 or 400 ISO - like we did, using Kodak Portra 160. The lens is a fixed-focus 35mm focal length lens with an aperture of f/4.5, which is fairly standard for similar plastic-bodied point and shoots made by the other film camera brands at the time. Takes 2x AA batteries.
