MORE ABOUT THIS CAMERA:  Released in 1996, the Konica FF-88 is a fun and simple-to-use point & shoot film camera. There is almost nothing to think about when shooting with it - no buttons at all except the power switch, the shutter release button, and the film rewind button. The FF-88D AUTO DATE is the 1997 version with a date-stamp function added but is otherwise the same camera. The lens is a 'hybrid' between plastic and glass, with one glass element and two plastic elements, which creates more of a lo-fi and softer look to the the photos than a fully glass lens. It has a fixed focal length of 29mm (which is a relatively wide angle - great for snapshots, especially indoors), an aperture of f/4.5, and a fixed shutter speed of 1/125 sec. With all these fixed settings, the most appropriate film to use is generally 100 ISO as films with a higher speed (such as 400 ISO) are prone to causing over-exposed results. The lens is 'focus free', which also adds to the lo-fi soft quality of the photos. It will not get subjects in focus which are closer than 1.5 meters away, so this is worth bearing in mind, however if you break this rule we've found the results can be quite charming - depending on your taste! The flash operates automatically (with red-eye reduction included) and it has a recharge time of approximately 8 seconds. Conveniently, the FF-88 runs off AA batteries which makes it a practical travel companion.
