MORE ABOUT THIS CAMERA:  Released in 1990, the Konica Big Mini BM-201 was part of the highly regarded Big Mini range. Its has a very decent fixed-focus 35mm f/3.5 Konica lens with an infrared non-scan active type auto-focus system which consistently produces great quality photos. It has a well-built feeling to it, with more metal than plastic on the body, and has a fairly slim design. Its a standout for shooting at night due to an exceptionally quick 3-second flash reload time. The shutter speed range of 3sec to 1/500 sec is also impressive. It also offers a macro mode which will allow you to focus on a subject as close as 35cm, which is about as good as it gets for a point & shoot film camera. The BM-201 will read a wide range of DX-coded films - from 25 to 3200 ISO - and it takes 1 CR123A battery which is easy and affordable to source. The only downside to this model that we've come across is that the mode buttons on the back panel can be difficult to press, you sometimes need to really push a fingernail into them to get them to respond - and its not a glitch on this particular one we have in stock, its the same with every BM-201. Nevertheless, they do work, and you either have the option of not using them (the camera will work just fine on the auto settings if you don't get involved with the mode buttons) or getting used to pressing them in a certain way. And one last important thing to note is that it offers an exposure compensation option from +1.5 EV to -1.5 EV, which in simple terms means you have the ability to overexpose or underexpose your photos. This is a feature usually preserved for very premium point and shoots and definitely very handy if you want to take a bit more control over how your photos turn out. All up we would have to say that the Big Mini BM-201 is amongst the best of the medium-to-high end point and shoots and as long as you can put up with the fiddly buttons it will provide great satisfaction from the photos it takes.
