MORE ABOUT THIS CAMERA:  The Cardia Travel Mini Dual-P was made in Japan and released by Fujifilm to the Japanese market in 1990, also being branded as the Discovery Mini Dual Date in the US and the DL-500 Wide Date in Europe. It has a small and compact design and is well constructed giving it a fairly solid feel for a camera with a plastic body. The big talking point about it is the dual lenses - and how decent they are - with comparisons sometimes being drawn to the Fujifilm Tiara. Whilst a fixed focus lens is generally regarded to take a better photo than a zoom lens, the dual lens feature allows you to shoot with a fixed focus lens whilst not being locked into one focal length. Its a best of both worlds solution. And both the 28mm and the 45mm lenses take superb photos, offering sharpness and quality you wouldn't achieve with most zoom lenses from a point and shoot. It also offers an infinity focus mode (great for landscape photography), a self-timer, flash settings, and a date stamp (although it only goes up to 31 Dec 2019). The lens offers speeds from 1/2 to 1/125 seconds and an aperture as wide as f/3.5 with the 28mm lens. Another decent spec is its ability to focus as close as 0.45 meters, making it capable of closeups. It can also pre-focus by half-pressing the shutter button and can read DX codes from 50 to 1600 ISO. And another point of differentiation is drop-in loading and pre-winding (meaning the film is fully wound out of the canister upon loading and rolls back into the canister over the course of shooting the roll, thus preventing a mishap from accidentally opening the film door at the end of the roll and damaging the final photos). One unnecessarily complicated aspect of this camera is its requirement for two batteries - a standard CR123A plus a CR2025 that sits inside the film door and needs a small screwdriver to replace. Fortunately the CR2025 is a long life battery, similar to a watch battery, which lasts for years. And the advantage of this system is that the date-stamp retains its data each time the standard CR123A battery is depleted and replaced.

In summary the Cardia Travel Mini Dual-P is a small and versatile camera that takes stunning imagery which rivals many of the more expensive compacts on the market.
